Patients come to Westmead Hospital for the treatment of major and complex trauma. One such patient is Ashleigh (aka 'Ruby' from our Christmas 2019 appeal) who suffered horrendous injuries at the scene of a motor vehicle collision last year.

Ashleigh said, “I had to learn to walk again, and I’ll never forget the moment I took my very first steps unaided”

Ashleigh spent more than four months in Westmead Hospital under the care of the Trauma team, having over 14 procedures to rebuild her shattered body. Although Ashleigh still has more surgeries ahead to repair her leg, she has managed to fulfil her dream of walking unaided, which she credits to her 13 specialists at Westmead Hospital.
